North Durras Beach and Durras Lake

A short drive from Depot Beach, North Durras Beach and Durras Lake also offer opportunities for surfing, canoeing, fishing and other water sports.

Meander through the ferns and spotted gums along the Durras Discovery Trail which loops on the north side of Durras Lake. Rough-hewn gates at the beginning and end make for a fairy playground. Thick moss carpets long-fallen logs, the core decay of which was not evident to long-gone loggers. Lyrebirds mimic other early morning calls.

From the house, drive (or walk!) along Depot Beach Road, turn right at North Durras Road, travel 650m, turn left into Lake Road (dirt track) and park in the designated space 1.5 kms along. A tad more than the advertised 1.5 kms (say, 3 kms!), the trail includes a 200m incline followed by a 200m decline, but is otherwise fairly flat.
